Hockey moves too fast for a paper scoresheet, so Statside runs it as box-score entry across three periods. You log the plays that decide games: goals, assists, shots on goal, plus-minus, penalty minutes, hits, blocked shots, and every faceoff won against faceoffs taken. Goalies get their own line: saves, shots against, and goals against. Points come free the moment you enter a goal or a helper, because points equal goals plus assists.

The signature rate stat here is save percentage, and it is the fairest number in the sport. Save % is saves divided by shots against, so it grades a goalie on the pucks that actually reached the net, not on how many the team let through. Face a barrage and keep it out, and the number climbs. A netminder who stops 30 of 32 shots posts a .938 save %, and that reads the same whether the team gave up eight shots or forty.

Faceoffs are the quiet edge, and they are easy to log: mark each draw won or lost and Statside returns faceoff % on the spot. A center who wins 14 of 22 draws sits at .636, and over a season those extra possessions turn into shots, zone time, and goals. Plus-minus rides along too, so you see who is on the ice when the puck goes in at either end.

Good and great split at the qualifying line. Season leaders only rank goalies and skaters who clear a minimum, so a .950 save % from one hot night never jumps a starter who carried a full slate. That threshold is what separates a lucky period from a real workload. Clear it, hold your save % or faceoff % up top, and the leaderboard says you belong there.
